Eat Many Fortune Cookies.

Today's Marketing Cookie brings a sigh of relief.

I want to send a special thank you this morning to the over one hundred cookie fans from all around the world who have eaten a fortune cookie, snapped a photo of the fortune, and sent them to me. When I receive your fortunes via Twitter, Google+, email, Facebook, and LinkedIn, it brings me a nice slice of joy to know that you like what I write, and that you want to participate in this blogging project. I'm smiling right now, in fact. As long as people continue to eat fortune cookies and send me photos of their fortunes, I will continue to write and dedicate my marketing cookies to you.

People often ask me if we've "gotten anything" from my marketing cookies. Is two hours per day really worth it? The flat answer is yes. We have gotten net new business attributed to the cookies, prospects have mentioned the cookies in meetings, and our website traffic has tripled. The greatest benefit from this journey, however, isn't the new clients we've attracted or the increased revenue. I've made new friends, so the best part of this adventure is how the Marketing Cookies have brought me closer to other marketers and closer to my profession.

I will admit there have been days when I have been exhausted and didn't want to write a Marketing Cookie. There have been a few times when I've had severe writer's block and couldn't figure out a reasonable way to connect a specific fortune with marketing... or worse, there have been times when I didn't like what I had written and decided to throw it away and start over. Even with all of that, I really do enjoy writing these cookies. As today's fortune says, I really hope that "You will live a long life and eat many fortune cookies," because if you do, I will be right here writing them for you.
