The Spirals of Life.

Today’s fortune suggests that the journey matters more than reaching the destination, but only sometimes. So, when exactly is the journey more important than the end? This suggests that the victory of achieving our goals is sometimes less valuable than the growth, lessons, and moments of clarity we experience along the way—except for when it’s not. In some ways and only on some days, the end is just a milestone, and the real value is found along the path we take to get there.

We may think of life as a straight path from start to finish, or even more commonly, as a crazy, nonsensical squiggly line. But perhaps it’s more like a repeating spiral that keeps bringing us back to the same familiar situations, challenges, or ideas. Each time we circle back, we are changed by the experiences we've had along the way.

Think about those times you faced a tough decision at work and then, months or even years later, found yourself in a similar situation. You may have felt a sense of déjà vu, but if you learned from the last time you were there, you can handle it differently and with more confidence. You may revisit the same kinds of moments, have the same kinds of relationships, and face the same kinds of problems until one day, you bring greater wisdom, more awareness, and better insights to the challenge, and you change the cycle. With each turn of the spiral, we get better at anticipating the inevitable, and when we make the right decisions, our journeys don’t just move us forward—they lift us higher.

It’s not just our own journey that changes. Every time we learn something new or grow from defeating a repeating challenge, we affect the journeys of others. When serving as a mentor, sharing advice with a friend, or even making a small, encouraging comment to someone in passing, you’re influencing their journey, too. Just as others have affected your path, so too are you constantly shaping the experiences of those around you.

In this way, life’s journey becomes a shared one, filled with interconnected spirals that overlap and intertwine. The struggles you conquer today may become someone else’s solution tomorrow, and their growth may inspire you to face another curve in your own path. The beauty lies not just in where we’re headed but in how we keep returning to familiar places as wiser, more evolved versions of ourselves. And those experiences ripple out to affect others in ways we might never fully understand. And as you do, it can be as today’s fortune says, “Sometimes the object of the journey is not the end, but the journey itself.”
