Today's Marketing Cookie is about embracing your exit.

Whether you've been replaced, canned, sacked, impeached, downsized, laid off, let go, or fired, they all amount to a final walk out the door. The best thing you can do when you've been let go is to let go too. There may be feelings of betrayal, unfairness, or great loss, but I am here to remind you that there's something new waiting for you on the other side of that door.

When you get out, you may feel like you should have walked out that door a long time ago. You may even feel a bounce in your step as a heavy weight has been lifted off your shoulders. You may find that losing that job was actually a great gift and will lead you to something new.

I was once recruited into a startup that never started. In fact, it went out of business just six weeks after I had arrived. Two weeks later, I chose to start my own company, which propelled my career to levels far beyond what I could have ever imagined.

The truth is, whatever you encounter next will most definitely be a learning experience. You'll learn more about yourself as you update your resume. You'll learn how valuable your skills are and discover the most effective way to market your capabilities as you begin to interview.

No one is saying it will be easy, but it will most decidedly be the start of a new chapter for you. Even if it is difficult to move on, you will have the opportunity to move forward, and to remember, as today's fortune says, "Every exit is an entrance to new experiences."
